Activision reveals 16 updated Modern Warfare 2 maps to appear in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
Activision has shown 16 updated CoD MW 2 (2009) maps that will appear in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III at release.
Here's What We Know
A list of all the updated maps was published on the Call of Duty website, including: Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Karachi, Highrise, Invasion, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland.
In some places on the maps, the level metrics have been adjusted to match the more modern gameplay. For example, buildings and various objects can be of a different colour or material, such as the old dirt football field on the Favela map, which is now covered with a blue acrylic coating.
The lighting has also changed. Locations that were darker in the original have become brighter, allowing players to see enemies better.
The gameplay has also undergone changes, as the game's engine has changed a lot in 14 years. For example, if there is water on the map, you can dive into it. This opens up new tactics for victory.

Along with this, the developers released a short video where they talked about the creation of updated maps. For them, it was important to provide players with a new experience but maintain a sense of nostalgia.
