Puny Human, the studio that helped develop The Callisto Protocol, will close after 16 years in the industry due to non-payment of funds from an unnamed client

Puny Human, an American game development studio, has announced that it will close after 16 years in the industry. The reason for this is non-payment of financial remuneration.

Here's What We Know

Now the team has only two full-time employees. Fourteen left the studio in the summer, while the rest left of their own accord. The process of liquidating the company's assets and searching for buyers for Puny Human's intellectual property is ongoing. The company is also considering giving access to those products that cannot be sold to other people to complete.

Mike Sanders, the studio's CEO, said that non-payment of "co-development" fees was the main reason for the company's collapse.

To see Puny Human go from a staff of twenty hard-working people in 2023 to zero is heartbreaking, and it's hard to tell our communities, advocates, and friends.

He said that the client had reneged on previously agreed payments, which had deprived Puny Human of cash flow. Mike also said that he takes full responsibility for not being sufficiently prepared for this outcome.

Puny Human has created such games as Dystopia, Blade Symphony and Galacide. The studio also took part in the creation of The Callisto Protocol, The Bard's Tale 4, Tribes of Midgard and others. The studio plans to close completely by the end of 2023.
