Mac Walters, the lead writer of the Mass Effect franchise, has announced the creation of his own studio, Worlds Untold. The new company has secured the support of NetEase Corporation
In early 2023, Mac Walters - a famous game designer, one of the creators of Mass Effect franchise - left Bioware studio, where he worked for 19 years.
And only now it became known how his career will continue.
Here's What We Know
Mac Walters announced the opening of his own studio, Worlds Untold, which is based in Vancouver, Canada.
It is known that the studio will be backed by Chinese corporation NetEase Games.
The company intends to work on big-budget games and on their basis to create popular media franchises.
It is noteworthy that Worlds Untold plans to work exclusively in a remote format. The team has already started working on the debut project, which will be an action-adventure game in the setting of the near future.
Mac Walters will be joined by other experienced game designers:
- Audio Director Sotaro Tojima - who has worked on the Halo and Metal Gear Solid franchises;
- Head of production Elizabeth Lehtonen - worked on Dragon Age, The Sims and Angry Birds;
- Head of art Ramil Sunga - concept artist for Mass Effect: Andromeda, Anthem and all of Dragon Age;
- Head of Technology Ben Goldstein - led the porting of Assassin's Creed IV to Xbox One and For Honor to PlayStation 4.
