Hogwarts Legacy has become the most popular game in 2023 at UK retailers
The year 2023 ended with some unexpected UK retail sales chart figures.
For the first time in ten years, the leader of the year was not a football simulator series FIFA!

Since 2014, the most popular game among UK gamers was the new parts of virtual football from Electronic Arts. The statistics of the portal Gamesindustry.biz showed that in the past year the best-selling game in the UK was Hogwarts Legacy.
The role-playing game about wizards was released in February 2023 and since then remains one of the top sellers. Brits bought the PlayStation 5 version most often, followed by the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
As for football, it seems that FIFA's branding change to EA Sports FC still had a negative impact on the game's popularity, it was much lower than in previous years.
