A new life for the iconic shooter: NVIDIA has unveiled a trailer of an enhanced version of Half-Life 2 with support for ray tracing, DLSS and other technologies
At CES 2024, which is held in Las Vegas, NVIDIA company presented a trailer of unofficial remaster of the cult game Half-Life 2.
Here's What We Know
Orbifold Studios team of enthusiasts received permission from Valve to improve the game, but Half-Life 2 authors are not directly involved in the development of the updated version.
In Half-Life 2 RTX players can expect ray tracing support, DLSS 3.5 anti-aliasing technology with Ray Reconstruction, updated assets and high-resolution textures.
The video shows that the familiar game will look much more modern and technologically advanced and, what is important, when viewing the frames you don't get the impression that 20 years have passed after Half-Life 2 release. The quality of shadows is amazingly realistic - you can't see it in every modern game.
When We Can Expect It
No release date for Half-Life 2 RTX has been announced yet, but given the upcoming anniversary of the game, it's likely that the improved version of the shooter will be released this year.
