The Rockstar Games logo has sparked a legal battle between Take Two Interactive and Remedy Entertainment
In the spring of 2023, Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment - the creator of Max Payne, Alan Wake, Control and Quantum Break - A new phase of Remedy Entertainment's creative life has begun with a logo change. It turned out that shortly after the redesign, a large game publisher Take Two Interactive filed a lawsuit against Remedy Entertainment on the grounds that the new logo is extremely similar to the famous mark of the studio Rockstar Games.
Representatives of Take Two Interactive are convinced that there is a possibility that gamers will confuse the logos of Remedy and Rockstar Games, and this, according to their logic, will damage the publisher's business.
Paradoxically, Remedy studio is in friendly relations with Rockstar Games and at the moment with the financial support of Rockstar Finns are There's a lot of work ahead: studio Remedy Entertainment has revealed progress on the Max Payne remake, the Control sequel and two more big-budget projects.
It is noteworthy that more than 20 years ago Remedy had exactly the same conflict with the now closed studio Lukas Art, but then the reason for the dispute was not the letter "R", but the stylised image of an eye on the logo. As a result, the Finns were forced to change their mark, perhaps the same will happen this time.
