Ubisoft says that despite the fact that gamers are used to owning games, it sees a "great opportunity for growth" for its Ubisoft+ service

Ubisoft is looking to grow in the subscription business, much like it does in the music, film, and TV content industries. On Monday, the company rebranded its Ubisoft+ subscription and introduced a new PC offer.

Here's What We Know

Ubisoft+ Premium is available on PC, Xbox, and Amazon Luna for $17.99/month and provides access to new releases on the day of release, an expanded catalogue of games and DLC, and early access to individual games. Ubisoft+ Classics, which was previously available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, is now available for PC for $7.99 per month.

Ubisoft's Director of Subscriptions Philippe Tremblay said that since its launch in September 2019, Ubisoft+ has attracted millions of subscribers. He also noted that 10% of subscribers had never played the company's games before, and that the service experienced its biggest growth in October last year.

Even with the dominant model of buying games, Trumbull sees significant potential for growth if players can get used to not owning games the way they do music and films. He believes that gamers are gradually adapting to the idea of subscriptions and prefer the convenience of not owning a game, but keeping progress and interaction with it.
