Palworld set a record for peak online among paid games on Steam, surpassing Cyberpunk 2077

The gamer community continues to watch with interest the phenomenal success of the survival shooter Palworld, which has not unreasonably received the nickname "Pokémon with guns".

The game from Pocketpair studio became the first hit of 2024 and is breaking popularity records in Steam.

Here's What We Know

There were only five games that recorded 1 million concurrent players on Steam: PUBG, Counter-Strike 2, Lost Ark, Dota 2, and Cyberpunk 2077. All games except Cyberpunk 2077 are conditionally free-to-play, which is one of the main factors in attracting a huge number of users.

On Sunday January 21 Palworld joined the "millionaires' club", which was released in early access on January 19.

On that day, 1,291,967 people were recorded! The game immediately overtook Cyberpunk 2077 in terms of maximum online traffic and became the leader among paid games.

For comparison, the super-popular free-to-play game Dota 2 has a record figure of 1,295,114 and, obviously, with such a trend Palworld will soon overtake not only Dota, but also the next leader - Lost Ark with its 1,325,305 users.

It should be noted that in addition to Steam the game is available on Xbox Series and for free in Game Pass service, so we can only guess about the total number of players.

By the way, Palworld sales exceeded 5 million copies!
