Decent but not perfect: critics are pleased with the remake of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and give the game high marks
Tomorrow (February 28) will see the release of the remake of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, the cult adventure game that launched the career of one of the most charismatic game designers, Josef Fares.
The original game was released in 2013 and won the hearts of critics and gamers.
Unfortunately, the creator of the original game was not involved in the development of the remake - it was handled by Avantgarden Games studio, but judging by the critics' assessments, the game designers managed to update Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons in a worthy manner.
Here's What We Know
In general, experts were satisfied with the remake of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. They noted that the developers did not change the elements that have not become obsolete over time, and instead focused on improving the appearance of the game.
Graphics, lighting, detailing and visual effects in the remake reached a new level of quality, and the re-recorded music only emphasises the atmosphere of the adventure.
Some reviewers complained that due to the fact that the characters look much more realistic, sometimes the game has the so-called "ominous valley effect" - when the excessive verisimilitude of the characters stresses and even scares people.
The technical performance of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is not at the highest level, the game occasionally has non-critical bugs, frame rate drops and other minor issues that can be fixed with a few patches.
Otherwise, the updated version of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a great game that will suit both those who are not familiar with the original and those who want to take a look at their favourite game in a modern version.
As a result, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake received the following scores on Metacritic:
- PlayStation 5 version - 78 points;
- PC version - 85 points;
- the Xbox Series version does not have an average score yet due to the lack of reviews.
