Ori series platformer sells nearly 10 million copies: the success of the first instalment saved Moon Studios from bankruptcy
Moon Studios' ambitious action game No Rest for the Wicked will be released in Steam Early Access next month.
No Rest for the Wicked is attracting a lot of interest from the public and has been widely covered in the media.
However, we should not forget about the games that made Moon Studios' name - we are talking about action-platformers Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
Here's What We Know
The head of Moon Studios Thomas Mahler said that the sales of games in the Ori series (2015 and 2020) amounted to about 10 million copies. Probably, the developer meant exactly the number of copies sold, without taking into account the users of the Game Pass service, in which both games are also available.
Thomas Mahler emphasised that if Ori and the Blind Forest had failed, Moon Studios was likely to go bankrupt and close the company. But the game showed excellent sales, moreover Thomas admitted that Ori series became one of the most successful games of Metroidvania genre.
If Blind Forest would have flopped back then, we would've been bankrupt as a studio.

But thank god it didn't - we sold around 10m copies of Ori so far, which probably makes it the most successful Metroidvania series ever made.
