Harold Halibut, a freeze-frame game about life and friendship on a huge spaceship, will be released on April 16
We are attracted to stop-motion projects because it is not the most popular genre, but at the same time it has a special aesthetic. Just think of the animated film Coraline, which is a representative of this genre and sticks in your head for a long time after watching it. And at Future Games Show, we were shown a trailer for Harold Halibut, which is also created in the freeze-frame style.
Here's What We Know
Harold Halibut is a storyline game about life and friendship on a huge spaceship in the depths of an alien ocean. 250 years ago, your home, the spaceship Ark, left Earth at the end of the Cold War in search of a planet where humanity can survive.
Players play as Harold, a young assistant to the ship's lead scientist, Jeanne Moreau. Most of the crew has resigned themselves to life on the ship, but Moreau still hopes to find a way to leave the abyss of water and go in search of another, drier world. And together with her, we will be looking for a "miracle", and we must also help Harold understand the true meaning of the word "home".
What makes the game special is that Slow Bros. studio carefully and tactilely handcrafted each Harold Halibut element using traditional modelling sculpting techniques to achieve a freeze-frame effect.
When We Can Expect It
Harold Halibut will be released on 16 April on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
