Dolby Atmos support, 8TB SSD, and an improved interface: Sony has released a new PlayStation 5 update that brings many changes

Sony has released a major PlayStation 5 update that adds support for Dolby Atmos, the ability to install an 8TB SSD, and much more. Here are the most interesting things.

Here's What We Know

You can now connect two controllers to one account. This feature may come in handy when you need to help your child complete a level, or you're playing the same game with a friend and don't want to pass the gamepad to each other. To enable the feature, go to [Settings] > [Special Features] > [Controllers] > [Use second controller as secondary controller], and then turn on [Use secondary controller].

With the new update, haptic feedback can be enabled on the gamepad even when you're in a menu. For example, vibrating when you start a game or receive a notification. The feature is especially useful for players with certain visual or hearing impairments. To enable this feature, go to [Settings] > [Special Features] > [Controllers], and then enable [Touch feedback during console navigation].

Dolby Atmos support for compatible audio devices has been a long time coming, and it's here. 3D audio with Tempest 3D AudioTech technology is now available for owners of compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled HDMI devices such as soundbars, TVs, or home theatre systems. To enable Dolby Atmos, go to [Settings] > [Sound] > [Audio Output] > [Audio Format (Priority)], and then select [Dolby Atmos].

If you've been annoyed by the sound when you turn on your PS5, you can now turn it off or turn it down. To configure this feature, go to [Settings] > [System] > [Sound].

We don't know who will need this, but you can now install an 8TB M.2 SSD. Just make sure to read what SSDs you can use in your PS5 before you do so.

The interface has also been improved. For example, you can send a party invitation to a group of people at once, instead of sending it to each person individually. View a demo of the player's screen in the party before you join. See how many tournaments you've participated in and how you finished. React to messages with emoticons (just like on Facebook). Updated tips section. Improved library search and more.

Sony also added the ability to launch PS Remote Play on Chromecast with Google TV (4K model) and BRAVIA XR A95L. Also this month, we can expect a new update for the PlayStation App (Android, iOS).

The PlayStation 5 update weighs 1.1 GB. It is worth noting that the installation of the update may require rebuilding of the database, which is not a big deal. You can learn more about it by following this link.
