Sony has halved its release plan for Live Service Games. Only six projects will be released before March 2026, instead of the previously planned twelve
For the last few years, Sony has been increasing the production of Live-Service Games and is placing a lot of bets on them.
In fact, it was for the production of such projects that the studio Bungie was acquired, which proved its ability to work with such a concept of games on the example of years of support for the shooter Destiny.
Sony's plan implied the release of 12 service games until March 2026, but the Japanese developer made significant adjustments to its strategy.
Here's What We Know
Sony president Hiroki Totoki mentioned during the financial report that the company has halved its plan to release service games and now only 6 projects will be released until March 2026.
Totoki mentioned that Sony is reverent about the quality of its games, so the remaining six service games will be sent for further refinement and they will be released later.
Hopefully Sony's strategy of releasing service games won't stop it from continuing to release top-notch single-player projects, which is why millions of gamers love the PlayStation brand.
