Naughty Dog has officially announced the remaster of The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation 5. However, not all players understand Sony's policy of forcing leading studios to work on re-releases rather than new projects. But the situation around the remaster was explained by a VGC journalist.

Jordan Middler wrote that, according to his information, The Last of Us Part II Remastered is a project for new Naughty Dog developers to understand how everything works in the studio. And Neil Druckmann's team is actively developing a new game. However, Jordan did not specify whether it is a new IP or a continuation of a series.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered will be released on January 19 on PlayStation 5. The game will feature a new roguelike mode, improved graphics, expressive locations, and more. Owners of the PS4 version will be able to upgrade for $10.
