According to leaks, PlayStation 5 players spend more time on single-player projects than multiplayer ones
The recent Insomniac Games data breach, which resulted in the loss of more than 1.3 million internal files, revealed details of several games planned by the studio for the next few years, as well as confidential data and metrics for the entire PlayStation platform that were not previously available to the public. The data is still a subject of discussion, and those who know how to analyse it share some interesting information from time to time.
Here's What We Know
According to a post by Twitter user @FunkyClam, an internal presentation of Sony's business updates from February last year shows that PlayStation 5 owners spend significantly more time playing single-player games than multiplayer games:
I can't remember if this has surfaced before but it's nice to read some detailed data. I can't publish myself on reddit for now. It gets flagged automatically, so here's the linkhttps://t.co/oV1fm93VDC https://t.co/buh9pJy66H pic.twitter.com/wGeqbILpjB

One of the slides reveals the total number of game hours PS5 users play each month - from it we can learn that since the console's release, more than 50% of the game time per month is spent on single-player games, and this number sometimes even grows. For example, in December 2022, out of a total of 1.6 billion game hours, 59% were spent on single-player games, 20% on free multiplayer games, and 21% on multiplayer games that require a PlayStation Plus subscription.
This information may come as a surprise to those who thought that multiplayer games would always prevail over single-player games in terms of the number of players.
