While the original Helldivers wasn't overly focused on its story, the game had a fairly heavy emphasis on world building through the descriptions of the various missions, as well as the common themes of sending the eponymous Helldivers to their almost certain demise in certain missions.

The new trailer focuses heavily on the world-building of the Helldivers. Created as a piece of propaganda, it convincingly illustrates the need to fight the constant threat posed by the "socialist" Automatons and Terminids spreading across the vast expanses of the universe.

Helldivers 2 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Windows.
