Final Fantasy XVI's story isn't over yet: trailer and release date for The Rising Tide major add-on unveiled

Sony and Square Enix have revealed the release date and details of The Rising Tide, the second story add-on for Final Fantasy XVI.

Here's What We Know

To avoid spoilers, we'll focus on just a few main talking points.

In The Rising Tide, the protagonist Clive Rosfield will be travelling to new lands, and he will be accompanied by a brand new heroine.

In the upcoming wanderings the hero will be able to master the abilities of Leviathan, the Eikon of Water, and use his magic in battles with enemies, among which will be brand new creatures.

The Rising Tide will significantly add to and expand the story of Final Fantasy XVI, as well as introduce a huge amount of additional content, improvements and positive changes.

After completing FF XVI and the second add-on, players will be able to play a new mode called Kairos Gate, where they will be able to fight off waves of powerful enemies, each of which will be more difficult than the previous ones.

When We Can Expect It

The Rising Tide will be released on April 18th.

Final Fantasy XVI is still a PlayStation exclusive, but the game will be coming to PC in 2024.
