What is the best rc car for 4 year old?

My son's turning 4 next month and I'm thinking about getting him an RC car. He always gets super excited when he sees other kids playing with them at the park. Keeps asking me if he can "drive" one too.

Not sure if 4 is too young for this kind of toy. What should I be looking for? I'm guessing something sturdy is important (he's pretty rough on his toys), and not too complicated to use. Any brands or models that work well for this age?

Also, how much supervision do these usually need? We've got hardwood floors inside and a paved driveway outside if that matters.

Thanks for any advice!

Four's a great age to start! Just make sure to supervise. Look for cars with bigger buttons on the remote - easier for little hands to manage.

Totally agree on the big buttons. Also, Tehno, consider battery life. Some of these toys drain batteries like crazy.

My nephew got a remote control car for his 4 year old birthday. He loves it! We went with the jada toys nintendo mario kart racer. It's sturdy and the Mario theme is a hit with kids.

Have you thought about the DEERC DE36W? It's a good RC car for 4 year old kids. Simple remote, durable, and not too fast. Perfect for beginners.

Just a heads up - these things can lose their charm pretty quick. My kid was obsessed for about a week, now the car's just collecting dust. Maybe I should've gotten him a book instead. )))

Ouch, that's rough. Maybe try involving your kid in the choice? My daughter helped pick hers and she's been obsessed for months.

The Threeking 1:34 Scale RC Car is another great remote control car for 4 year old boys. It's got an easy-to-use remote and it's pretty tough. My 4-year-old hasn't managed to break it... yet.

Don't forget to check the recommended age on the box. Some RC cars are marketed for older kids but work fine for 4-year-olds with supervision.

If you've got hardwood floors, look for cars with rubber tires. Plastic wheels on wood are louder than a herd of elephants!

Has anyone tried those diy rc car kits for kids? Might be fun to build together, but probably better for when they're a bit older.

Those kits are cool, but definitely for older kids. Stick with ready-to-run for a 4-year-old. Less frustration, more fun.

You know, instead of getting one fancy remote control car for your 4 year old, maybe grab two cheaper ones? That way you can race together, plus you've got a spare when one inevitably ends up in the neighbor's bushes. Just saying, my kid's batting average with RC cars isn't great.

Remove the batteries when not in use. My kid's RC car turned itself on in the toy box and drained the batteries overnight.

Don't stress too much about which one to get. At 4, they're usually just happy to have one. It's us parents who overthink it!

If you're worried about finding the best RC car for 4 year old drivers, check out some YouTube review videos. Seeing how they handle crashes and how easy they are to control can be really helpful.

Get ready to become the official battery changer and car flipper in your house. And maybe invest in some furniture corner protectors while you're at it. Trust me on this one!
