Need a vpn for kodi that doesn’t slow everything down

Hey everyone,

I've been using Kodi for a while, mostly for streaming movies and live sports, but lately, I've been running into more geo-restrictions and sketchy ISPs slowing down my connection..... Figured it's time to get a VPN, but I keep hearing that some of them tank your speeds, which is the last thing I need.

I've tried a free VPN before (bad idea - constant buffering and random disconnects), so I know I need a solid paid option. But there are way too many out there, and every site seems to recommend something different.

So, Kodi pros - what VPNs actually work without killing streaming speed? And are there any settings or tricks to make it run smoother? Would appreciate any recs (or warnings on what to avoid).

Thanks!

I've tried a few different ones - Surfshark was okay but had connection issues. Switched to NordVPN recently and it's been working pretty smooth with my setup. Just my experience though

Been trying IPVanish but man, the buffering is real :( Anyone else having speed issues with their vpn? Like, it takes forever to load anything...

First things first - don't even think about free vpns with Kodi! They're usually super slow and some of them even sell your data.. Whatever you pick, make sure it's a proper paid service

Important reminder: make sure your VPN has a kill switch! Nothing worse than your connection dropping without you noticing. Found that out the hard way...

anyone else tired of VPN companies acting like they're the fastest thing ever? Like bro, we all know there's gonna be some slowdown, just be honest about it xD

Few tips from my experience:

  1. Always connect your VPN before starting Kodi;
  2. Try to pick servers that are geographically close to you;
  3. If possible, use a wired connection instead of WiFi;
  4. Check if your VPN allows port forwarding - can help with speeds.

Did all this and my streaming got way better

Using expressvpn atm but the price is killing me... anyone know some cheaper alternatives that don't suck??

most decent VPNs work fine with any Kodi version. Just gotta make sure you connect before launching Kodi. I've had good experience with Nord lately

These prices though.... :( Why they gotta be so expensive just to watch some shows, arr

ProtonVPN sometimes has decent deals. Or wait for Black Friday, that's when all the VPN companies go crazy with discounts ;)

Watch out for VPNs that need manual setup with Kodi. Got stuck in config hell for like 2 hours yesterday :/ Make sure you pick one that's straightforward to use

CyberGhost used to be good but got super slow lately. Anyone else notice this? Thinking about switching...

check your VPN protocol settings. Some Kodi add-ons work better with UDP, others with TCP. Worth experimenting if you're getting slowdowns. Made a huge difference for me

One thing nobody mentions - your router makes a huge difference! I upgraded mine and suddenly all VPNs worked better. Might be worth checking if yours can handle VPN traffic well.
