Are combustion engines dying or will they survive the electric revolution?
Lowkey having a crisis about my next car purchase π© Dealerships pushing EVs like crazy (dude literally tried to talk me out of even LOOKING at gas cars), meanwhile governments out here announcing bans on combustion engines. But then I drive around and still see new gas stations being built?? Make it make sense!
Media saying gas cars are basically dinosaurs waiting for the meteor, but my buddy who works in energy says the grid would collapse if we all plugged in tomorrow. Battery tech getting better but I still see Teslas stranded on highways during cold snaps.
Real talk - when are gas cars actually dying? Are we talking 5 years? 25 years? Never? Or we gonna have this weird mix forever? Getting whiplash from all these different takes and need to decide if my next ride should be plugged in or filled up π€
Anyone actually work in auto industry/energy/mechanics that can give it to me straight without the hype or doomer predictions?

Those synthetic fuel experiments burning through cash with minimal results. Terrible energy conversion ratio compared to just using electricity directly
