Relocated overseas - what's the best vpn for amazon prime that actually works?

Just landed in Germany for my company's exchange program and can't watch any of my shows. Everything in my watchlist shows that annoying "content unavailable in your region" message.

Tried using my cousin's VPN but Amazon immediately blocked it with that frustrating "streaming error" popup. Apparently they've gotten really good at detecting VPN connections?

This is a year-long assignment and I'm already missing my weekend binge-watching routine. Anyone found a reliable workaround that Amazon doesn't immediately block?

Really don't want to lose a year's worth of my watchlist and all the movies I've already purchased.

Amazon straight up playing whack-a-mole with vpns lately... got so fed up i made american friend add me to their family account, then accessed through web browser (NOT app!!). Been working 3 months no vpn needed. might be loophole they haven't closed yet

Genuine question: why not just embrace German Amazon? Been in München 2 years and honestly their catalog rocks. Dark, Babylon Berlin, How To Sell Drugs Online Fast... you're missing out clinging to US shows that'll still be there when you return

dude they track everything now - cookies, payment methods, device info. cleared my entire browser history, cache, EVERYTHING and still got blocked until i switched to firefox (chrome user forever). weirdly that fixed it??? no logic but it works

Amazon prime video coded differently than other services. Netflix = checks ip only. Hulu = ip + gps. Amazon = complete device fingerprinting INCLUDING time zone settings. Make sure your computer's time zone matches vpn location or instant block

Stumbled on weird solution accidentally - logged into amazon through nordvpn before traveling abroad, downloaded a bunch for "offline viewing" and somehow it refreshes my offline rights even with different IP. might be worth testing before trying more complex solutions

Their detection got INSANE lately. My solution? $25 raspberry pi running custom vpn at parents' house back in US. literal unblockable us ip address since it's actually residential

yooooo this is BRILLIANT. Just set this up using old laptop at my brother's place instead. Genuine residential IP that never gets flagged. Initial setup took an hour but zero issues since!

pov: paying for content twice because corporations cant figure out global licensing in 2025 💀 just make new german account for german content, us account for us content. Annoying but reliable unlike vpn roulette

Amazon intentionally making this harder than netflix/others to push regional content engagement metrics for their originals. Talking investor relations friend who says regional performance dictates budgets for new shows

The geolocation verification systems used by streaming platforms have evolved beyond simple IP checking to include multiple authentication vectors. Even with VPN active, browser-based location APIs can leak your actual position if permissions aren't carefully managed
