The US has approved the sale of 22 HIMARS missile systems, dozens of precision-guided GMLRS and GMLRS ER projectiles with a launch range of up to 150 kilometres to Australia for $975 million

The Australian Armed Forces announced a few months ago plans to purchase US HIMARS high-mobility artillery rockets. The potential sale was approved the day before by the US State Department.

Information about the approval of the potential deal was published on the website of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). The amount is $975 million.

The potential sale of the M142 HIMARS will realise US national security and foreign policy goals. The deal will be considered by the US Congress within 30 days.

Australia has submitted a request to purchase 22 M142 HIMARS high-mobility artillery rocket systems. The deal will include the sale of associated equipment and GMLRS precision munitions, including an Extended Range version with a launch range of up to 150 kilometres.
