The Russian S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system with a maximum range of 400 kilometres has been spotted in India for the first time
India received the first S-400 Triumf air defence systems a few years ago. It is only now that the surface-to-air missile system has appeared in public.

The Indian authorities announced the decision to purchase the Russian systems in 2015. The contract was signed in 2018, and deliveries began in December 2021. In the spring of last year, India received the second of five regimental complexes.

The total value of the contract was $5.43 billion. The third batch of S-400 Triumf air defence systems was officially announced in January 2023. Recently, Dmitry Shugaev, head of the Russian Federation's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, said that the deliveries will last until the end of 2024.
Where the photo of the S-400 Triumf was taken is not specified at the moment. However, it is known that the first two regiments of the air defence systems have been deployed in the northeastern region of the country, where India borders China and Pakistan. The launcher looks similar to the Brahmos systems (pictured below).
The S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system uses missiles with a launch range of up to 400 kilometres and an altitude range of up to 35 kilometres. The 91N6E radar station is capable of tracking air threats within a radius of 600 kilometres.
