Iran unveiled the Tactical Sayyad mobile surface-to-air missile system with an integrated self-defence system capable of simultaneously intercepting 12 air threats within a 120 km radius
The Iranian military has unveiled a new air defence system. It was named Tactical Sayyad.
Here's What We Know
The Iranians claim that the Tactical Sayyad has advanced capabilities to detect and destroy air threats. The surface-to-air missile system is designed to intercept air targets at medium altitudes.
Another feature of the new air defence system is some kind of integrated short-range self-defence system, but it is not clear what it is. What is certain is that it is not present in the other two Iranian designs, the Khordad-3 or the Khordad-15.
The Tactical Sayyad is characterised by its flexibility and ability to react quickly to emerging threats. For this purpose, both a launcher and a radar station are integrated into one combat vehicle. The radar can detect up to 24 targets within a radius of 180 kilometres. The complex is capable of simultaneously shooting down up to 12 air threats at a range of up to 120 kilometres. The altitude range is not specified.
