The Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile this week. It was shot down using the US FIM-92 Stinger system in the Kyiv region.

The video of the destruction of the Russian missile was published by the commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Sergey Naev. It is reported that the air threat was eliminated by the forces of the mobile fire group of air defence on 30 August 2023.
The FIM-92 Stinger is an American man-portable surface-to-air missile system. It has an infrared homing head and is designed to intercept primarily helicopter aircraft, drones flying at low altitudes.
The Kh-101 is a strategic air-to-ground cruise missile. It has a maximum launch range of 5500 km. Carriers are strategic bombers Tu-160 and Tu-95MS, which perform launches from the Caspian Sea region.
Kh-101 is equipped with a conventional warhead. The version with a special charge is called X-102. The thermonuclear charge has a power of 250 kilotons or 1 megaton. In flight, the missile can reach speeds of up to 270 kilometres per hour.
