Abrams tanks, M142 HIMARS launchers and Javelin anti-tank systems - US announces $1bn aid package for Ukraine

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Kyiv on 6 September 2023. After that, the White House announced a new military aid package.

As expected, the cost of the new package is $1bn. It includes US M1 Abrams main battle tanks. The US authorities approved the delivery of 31 tanks to Ukraine in early 2023.

The new military aid package also includes M142 HIMARS launchers, Javelin anti-tank systems and other weapons systems. This was announced by a spokeswoman for the US presidential administration, Karine Jean-Pierre.

The US Department of Defence website does not yet have a detailed list of weapons. However, the Pentagon has already published the contents of the $175 million package, which includes missiles for HIMARS and depleted uranium shells for M1 Abrams.
