Poland approves framework agreement for the purchase of 486 M142 HIMARS launchers
The Polish army will receive almost five hundred US M142 HIMARS launchers. This was announced by the Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak.
Here's What We Know
The Polish Defence Ministry has approved a contract for the purchase of 486 HIMARS launchers. The deliveries will take place under the HOMAR-A programme. Poland is expected to start receiving the artillery rocket systems at the end of 2025.
Mariusz Blaszczak said that 486 HIMARS systems are the number needed to effectively deter an aggressor. The integration of the launchers with Polish systems will take two years.
Poland, as part of the HOMAR-A programme, intends to sign individual contracts by domestic companies and Lockheed Martin. The agreements will cover the supply of command and control equipment, vehicles and ammunition.
The implementation of the programme involves the transfer of US technology to Poland for localisation of production. The launchers will be integrated on the Polish Jelcz chassis. It is also planned to use the Polish TOPAZ combat control system.
