The US State Department has approved a $4bn sale to Poland of Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System for Patriot Configuration 3+ systems
The US Congress will consider the sale of a new battle management system to Poland. The deal has been approved by the US State Department.
Here's What We Know
Poland is modernising its air defence. The project is called Wisla. The second phase of the programme involves the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IMAD IBCS).
The European country will employ Patriot Configuration 3+ surface-to-air missile systems. The amount of the potential deal, approved by the US State Department, is estimated at $4bn. Congress will make a decision within 30 days.
The potential deal includes 93 operational combat operations centres, 175 networked fire control repeaters and related equipment. The prime contractor is US-based Northrop Grumman.
Poland has become the first IBCS operator outside the US. Two years ago, the European country began receiving M903 launchers of Patriot surface-to-air missile systems built by Huta Stalowa Wola. Poland also became the first foreign customer for the new-generation RTX LTAMDS radars.
