Ukraine's air defence forces destroyed 36 strategic cruise missiles Kh-101, Kh-555, Kh-55 launched from 10 nuclear-capable Tu-95MS bombers
On the night of September 21, the Russian Federation launched its most massive missile attack on Ukrainian territory in recent months. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian air defence system shot down the vast majority of the air threats.
Here's What We Know
The first strike took place at around 20:40 (EDT) or 17:40 (PDT). The missiles entered Ukrainian airspace from several directions, manoeuvring as they flew. Tu-95MS nuclear-capable bombers were used for the launches.
10 strategic aviation aircraft fired 43 Kh-101, Kh-55 and Kh-555 cruise missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, in the course of coordinated work of anti-aircraft missile forces, fighters and mobile fire groups managed to destroy 36 of the 43 strategic missiles.
By morning, the Russians had struck Kharkiv with anti-aircraft missiles from the S-300 complex. At least six explosions were reported. The military administration will report on the consequences of the missile strike later.
