Germany may transfer Taurus cruise missiles with a range of more than 500 kilometres to Ukraine after ATACMS deliveries
The epic story surrounding the supply of ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine continues. Against this background, information has emerged about another Western weapon that the belligerent country needs.
Here's What We Know
Su-24 frontline bombers of the Ukrainian Air Force have been using Storm Shadow and SCALP EG cruise missiles for several months. At the same time, Ukraine needs German Taurus missiles, which have a launch range of over 500 kilometres.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Germany wants to move in unison with the United States. The ATACMS deliveries should prompt the German government to hand over Taurus air-launched cruise missiles.
Interestingly, a few days ago, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that German and US missiles are two independent stories. According to him, the transfer of ATACMS does not automatically activate Taurus deliveries. Germany will make a decision in the coming days.
