Here's What We Know
A cargo train hit the "Strela-10". The incident occurred on the night of October 2, 2023 at the Yenakievo-Uglegorsk crossing. As a result of the accident, three Russian servicemen were killed and two were injured.
The surface-to-air missile system was travelling as part of a military convoy. At some point, the driver failed to control the vehicle, drove off a bridge and hit a goods train. This caused the diesel locomotive to derail and part of the railway to be damaged.
"Strela-10" is an anti-aircraft missile system that is designed to intercept air threats at low altitudes. The launcher for the anti-aircraft missiles is mounted on the chassis of the MT-LB armoured personnel carrier.
