The Air Force showed the combat operation of the Ukrainian S-125 surface-to-air missile system, which destroyed Iranian Shahed-136 drones
The Ukrainian Defence Forces have repelled another attack by Iranian Shahed-136 drones. Various systems were used for this purpose, including C-125 surface-to-air missile systems.
Here's What We Know
A video of the combat work of the Ukrainian surface-to-air missile system was published by the Commander of the Air Force of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk. The video demonstrates the work of units of the air command "South".
A total of 24 out of 26 Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones were destroyed on the night of 5 October. The drones were launched from the Crimean peninsula and shot down over southern and central Ukraine.
The commander did not specify which version of the surface-to-air missile system was used to strike the kamikaze drones. It is known that the Ukrainian Defence Forces have upgraded S-125-2D systems with increased range (35 km instead of 25 km) and altitude (21 km instead of 18 km) of interception.
The S-125 is designed to destroy low-altitude cruise missiles, helicopters and aircraft. The upgrade to 2D level increased the probability of hitting the said targets from 4% to 35%, from 16% to 65% and from 45% to 75% respectively.
