This month, the US Air Force once again conducted a hypersonic missile test. The military service once again launched the AGM-183 ARRW (Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon).

Here's What We Know

Despite the fact that the ARRW project will be closed, the US Air Force decided to conduct all planned test launches of the hypersonic missile. As before, the B-52H Stratofortress nuclear-capable bomber was used for this purpose.

The AGM-183 ARRW test took place at the US Air Force base Edwards, California. The hypersonic warhead was mounted on a booster from the ATACMS tactical ballistic missile, which is in service with the US Army.

The US Air Force did not say whether the launch succeeded and achieved its intended targets. A military spokesman said they do not intend to discuss the objectives of the test, which took place on 12 October 2023.

The US Air Force made a similar statement in the spring of 2023. A few days later it became known that the test failed. It was after this that information about the closure of the ARRW project, for which the government allocated several billion dollars.
