Lithuania is close to acquiring the M142 high-mobility artillery rocket systems, better known as HIMARS. The potential sale is awaiting approval in the U.S. Congress.
Here's What We Know
On 24 October 2023, the potential sale of six M142 HIMARS missile systems to Latvia was approved by the US State Department. The deal will now be reviewed by the US Congress within 30 days.
The Baltic country will receive launchers for GMLRS precision guided missiles (M30A2 and M31A2) as well as M57 ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles. The potential deal is valued at $220 million.
