Russians report defeat of S-300 air defence system in Crimea

On October 30, 2023, the Ukrainian Defence Forces launched a strike on Crimea. The Russians report that the attack hit a S-300 complex.

Here's What We Know

The Strategic Communications Directorate of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the strike on the strategic air defence system the day before. A day later, the Russians wrote that the S-300 was hit.

Ukraine attacked an anti-aircraft missile system located near the village of Molochnoye, where the Russian Federation's air defence system is deployed. The extent of damage to the S-300 is not specified, but the diesel generator was completely destroyed.

It is unclear at the moment what means of destruction were used. Earlier, Ukraine used SCALP EG/Storm Shadow cruise missiles, kamikaze drones and modified Neptune anti-ship missiles to strike Russian facilities in Crimea.
