The UK and Poland have signed a contract worth more than $4.9 billion to build a next-generation air defence system
Major defence contractors from the UK and Poland have signed a landmark agreement to develop a next-generation air defence system. The UK Ministry of Defence links this to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The contract calls for more than 1,000 CAMM-ER (Common Anti-Air Modular Missiles Extended Range) missile interceptors and more than 100 iLauncher launchers. A similar deal was struck in April 2023, but it was worth $2.4bn.
The agreement was made possible after an unprecedented technology transfer. The corresponding contract was previously concluded between the British company MBDA and Polish PGZ. The programme, called NAREW, will create an air defence shield over Poland.
