Last week, Israel officially confirmed the first ever use of the Arrow-3 extra-atmospheric missile defence system. Earlier, Israel became the first country in the world to intercept an enemy missile in space.
Arrow-3 uses a hypersonic interceptor estimated to cost about $3 million. It can shoot down threats at an altitude of more than 100 kilometres and is capable of speeds in excess of Mach 6 (6174 km/h).
