Samsung has disabled the 8K high bitrate video recording feature on the Galaxy S23 Ultra flagships with an update

After the launch of the 2023 flagships, users got the ability to shoot 8K videos with high bitrate along with the top-of-the-line Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone. However, the company recently switched off this feature without any warning or explanation.

Details

According to several forum posts, the High Bitrate Videos option in the 8K video recording mode is disabled. More precisely, the option is still there in the settings section of the Camera app, but you can't activate it. This happened after installing the June 2023 security update.

According to some users, sometimes the 8K 30fps video could "stutter" when using a high bitrate. The unstable performance may have been the reason why Samsung disabled the feature.

However, it is important that the logs do not show these changes. Also, Samsung doesn't say why it disabled the feature and whether it plans to bring it back with a future software update.
