SPIDAR - a Japanese worker who can fly and walk using propellers

Scientists at the University of Tokyo have developed a hybrid robot that can walk and fly. In both cases, fans are used for movement. The device is called SPIDAR.

Here's What We Know

The robot has several limbs, each with propellers. They create an adjustable thrust that propels the limbs into motion. The servos have almost no role in correcting the position of the structure.

The name SPIDAR is an acronym for SPherIcally vectorable and Distributed rotors assisted Air-ground amphibious quadruped Robot. The device is equipped with batteries that allow it to fly for 9 minutes, or walk for twice that amount of time. The robot weighs 15 kg.
