Martian robots continued working after an enforced two-week pause
In November, the Earth and Mars were on opposite sides of the Sun. Because of this, a group of Martian vehicles stopped working. But the hiatus has now ended.
Here's What We Know
NASA specialists from 10 to 25 November 2023 did not send any commands to robotic devices that explore Mars. We are talking about the probes Curiosity, Perseverance, the drone Ingenuity and the probes MAVEN, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Odyssey.
The work was paused because the Sun was located between Mars and Earth for a fortnight. Emissions from the corona of our star could have disrupted the radio signals sent by NASA specialists.
The holiday is over, and all devices can continue to perform their tasks. In particular, the unmanned aerial vehicle Ingenuity was able to overcome 393 metres in about 2 minutes during its 67th flight over the surface of Mars.
