"Still alive, but the situation is complicated" - 16 years after its announcement, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in production: Ubisoft has not cancelled the hopeless project
This week Ubisoft announced the cancellation of the conditionally free-to-play shooter The Division: Heartland.
On the background of this news many gamers remembered about the main long-developed game, which Ubisoft is working on.
Here's What We Know
For the first time about the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2, the French company reported in 2008, then in 2017 presented the first gameplay footage and since then - silence.
The game has already entered the Guinness Book of Records as the longest developed game in the history of the industry. Few people believed it at once, but by development time the action-adventure overtook even the infamous shooter Duke Nukem Forever from 3D Realms and Gearbox Software.
We don't know if this is good or bad news, but when asked by Tom Henderson if Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development or if it has already been cancelled, the famous insider replied, "The action game is still in development, but the situation is complicated."
Last year, insiders reported that the game is still, 16 years after it was announced!, in early production and apparently no one can guess when it will be released.
We continue to watch with interest.
