BAE Systems has been awarded $190m to upgrade M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to the M2A4 level

The US Army has awarded BAE Systems a new contract to modernise the M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. The amount of the agreement was $190 million.

Here's What We Know

The contract involves the modernisation of a total of more than 70 M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and M7 fire support vehicles. Work will take place at BAE Systems plants in Texas, Alabama, South Carolina, Minnesota, California, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The agreement calls for the M2A2 Bradey in Operation Desert Storm - Situational Awareness (ODS-SA) modification to be upgraded to the M2A4. Fire support vehicles will be upgraded to the M7A4 level.

The M2A4 version features increased mobility and increased powerplant capacity. Due to the upgrade, the infantry fighting vehicle will be able to move faster in combat conditions. The upgrade improves the computing system, increasing the situational awareness of the crews.
