Bulgaria buys more than 180 US Stryker armoured personnel carriers in six versions for $1.5 billion
The US State Department has approved the sale of nearly two hundred Stryker armoured personnel carriers in several modifications to Bulgaria. The potential deal will be approved by the US Congress within a month.

The potential sale was announced on the website of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) has been appointed as the prime contractor.
The amount of the agreement is estimated at $1.5bn. Bulgaria has requested the purchase of 183 armoured personnel carriers of the Stryker family in six modifications:
- XM1296 Dragoon (90 units) / armoured combat vehicles;
- M1130 (33 units) / command vehicles;
- M1133 (24 units) / armoured medical evacuation vehicles;
- M1126 (17 units) / armoured personnel carriers;
- M1135 (10 units) / radiation, chemical and bacteriological reconnaissance vehicles;
- M1132 (9 units) / armoured engineering vehicles.
The potential sale also includes five tactical trucks, two M1120A4 trucks and five M9884A4 Wrecker recovery vehicles. In addition, Bulgaria will receive M153A4 CROWS combat modules, M240 and M2A1 machine guns.
