Ukrainian military showed on video a captured Russian T-90M "Breakthrough" tank worth up to $4.5 million
A few days ago, the Ukrainian Defence Forces seized a T-90M Breakthrough. The military showed the Russian modernised tank on video.
Here's What We Know
The tank was captured in Zaporizhzhya region. It will be used by the Armed forces of Ukraine, but after repair. The degree of damage is not specified.
Last year, the Ukrainian Defence Forces captured at least two upgraded Russian tanks. The first trophy became known in September and the second in December.
Ukrainian specialists have also studied one tank that was hit in the spring of 2022. The combat vehicle worth up to $4.5 million was destroyed by a $20,000 Carl Gustav Swedish grenade launcher.
As it became known, the T-90M Breakthrough is not much different from the older T-72B. It has a B-92C2F engine. Its power is 1,130 horsepower, but in the Ukrainian steppes it is reduced by a third.
The studied tank had no touted active protection. At the same time, the "Relikt" dynamic protection turned out to be an analogue of the Soviet "Kontakt" complex. The visible difference from the T-72B was the addition of additional armour to enhance protection. However, this has a negative impact on the cross-country performance.
