Slovakia has unveiled a self-propelled 155 mm BIA howitzer on a Tatra chassis with a range of up to 600 kilometres and a firing range of more than 50 kilometres

Slovak company KONŠTRUKTA-Defence has presented a new howitzer, which is a development of the Eva and Zuzana 2 self-propelled artillery systems. The new model is being developed under the BIA programme.

Here's What We Know

KONŠTRUKTA-Defence has rapidly developed a prototype of the self-propelled howitzer. It was the one that was demonstrated to the public at the DSEI-2023 exhibition in London. The development of the artillery system began two years ago, and the gun has already managed to pass firing tests.

The chassis used is a 6x6 Tatra vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with a Tatra T3C-928.90 V8 engine and has an Allison 4500SP transmission, but the customer can choose other solutions. The maximum speed is 90 km/h and the range reaches 600 kilometres.

The howitzer is equipped with a 155/52 calibre gun with a rate of fire of 5 rounds in the first minute and 13 rounds within three minutes. The maximum range of fire is more than 40 kilometres / 50 kilometres depending on the type of projectiles.
