The TADTE 2023 exhibition was held in Taiwan last week. During the event, a BAE Systems representative said that the company wants to sell the latest M109A7 Paladin self-propelled howitzers to Taiwan.

Here's What We Know

BAE Systems is in talks with the Taiwan Army. According to a company spokesperson, the military is interested in the M109A7. The service now has approximately 200 M109A2 and M109A5 self-propelled artillery systems in service.

Several years ago, Taiwan wanted to buy 40 M109A6 howitzers, but in 2021, US authorities decided to cancel the potential deal. The reasons for this decision are still not specified.

In addition to the M109A7 Paladin, BAE Systems intends to deliver eight M88A2 Hercules evacuation vehicles to Taiwan in 2024. The island nation also wants to modernise 60 M88A1 vehicles.
