Google will improve Assistant with artificial intelligence that will be more like ChatGPT and Bard

Google is planning to update Assistant with features based on generative artificial intelligence.

In an email, the corporation told employees that it has already started exploring a "supercharged" Assistant based on the latest large language models (LLMs). Similar technologies underpin ChatGPT and Google's own chatbot Bard.

According to the report, "A portion of the team has already started working on this, beginning with mobile".

As part of the change, Google said it was cutting the team working on Assistant. The email says the company is "eliminating a small number of roles," though it's unclear how many employees will be affected. Google has reportedly laid off "dozens" people.
