The Martian Ingenuity helicopter has made its 53rd flight over the surface of the Red Planet after a long hiatus due to loss of communications
In the spring, NASA lost contact with the Ingenuity drone, which has been on Mars for more than two years along with the Perseverance rover. The robotic helicopter recently made its 53rd flight over the surface of the Red Planet.
Here's What We Know
At the end of April, NASA specialists lost contact with Ingenuity after the drone completed its 52nd flight. The reason was that the robotic device made a landing in the crater Jezero, the landscape of which created interference.
Communication was not restored until June, and more than a month after that Ingenuity took to the air for the 53rd time. The helicopter travelled 142 metres in about 75 seconds.

The #MarsHelicopter team is planning a short pop-up flight, with the rotorcraft reaching 16 feet (5 metres) for about 25 seconds.
Now NASA specialists are preparing for the 54th flight. It will last 25 seconds and Ingenuity will climb to a height of 5 metres.
