Xpeng begins testing $215,000 flying car
A Chinese company Xpeng has begun testing a flying car that will be released in 2024.
What we know
The vehicle is based on Xpeng P7, but does not have its own name yet. The camouflaged vehicle with an extended wheelbase and reinforced shock absorbers was photographed on Chinese roads. You can also notice the extended front and rear tracks.
Most of the attention is attracted to the detail on the roof, where the wires go. According to the patent documents, there will be a box for folding the blades. It can quickly deteriorate due to vibration during driving, so the company Xpeng is testing different suspension systems to minimize shaking.
As we wrote above, the flying car will appear in 2024. It will weigh less than 1,000 kg, whereas Xpeng P7 weighs almost 2,000 kg. It will be possible to buy the flying car for $215 000.
Recall that the Chinese company about a year ago introduced a concept electric car Xpeng Voyager X2 with vertical takeoff and landing. The car will be designed for two people and will be able to fly for 35 minutes at speeds up to 130 km/h. A picture of the concept can be seen below.
