Twitter has banned links to Facebook, Instagram and Mastodon, and attempts to circumvent the restrictions are a violation of the new policy

Since December 18, Twitter has banned free promotion of specific social media platforms.

Here's What We Know

From now on, posts with links to banned platforms or calls to follow you outside of Twitter will be deleted. You may also have your profile blocked.

Forbidden platforms:

• Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Post and Nostr.

Examples of banned messages:

• "follow me @username on Instagram"
• "username@mastodon.social"
• "visit my Facebook profile - facebook.com/username"

In addition, any attempt to circumvent the restrictions on external links is also a violation of the new Twitter policy. For example, an attempt to disguise the link as follows: "instagram dot com/username" will be removed.

But simultaneous posting in several social networks and paid promotion of other platforms, even banned ones, is allowed.

It remains to be seen how these rules will affect Twitter.
